We arrived landed safe and sound this afternoon to “exploding excitement!!” We sailed through customs and then went out side to meet our drivers, Todd and Arland(YWAM STAFF). We were instantly sweating. The students where amazed by the wonderful sights of Montego Bay, and all the cute kids coming home from school. Also their first experience driving on the left hand side of the road.
“Like a Dream, Beautiful, Incredible” were the students reactions upon arriving at the YWAM base. We had an orientation and then headed to the pool for a quick swim before supper! We had Curried Goat and Stew Chicken, rice and carrots/cabbage for supper, it was yummy!
After supper we went to a Community Meeting, with the YWAM staff, current DTS students, and local community members came for a time of Praise and Worship. Hannah got to share a bit about her “exciting team!” We all felt VERY welcomed and were hugged a lot!
It is currently 9pm and most of the students are heading to bed (Jamaica is an hour ahead of Saskatchewan time, so 8pm at home:). We did not end up getting much sleep last night despite our best efforts. We ended up waiting for a shuttle that never came (from not so Best Western), but the students had great attitudes! We almost contemplated staying in the airport because by the time we would get there we would only have three hours of sleep. The Lord provided a great man named Robbie who worked for a partnering hotel; He was already done work for the night and offered to take us to our hotel. We had a great conversation with him and when he dropped us off he would not take any money for our trip even though we insisted. What blessing!
Tomorrow we will be getting up at 6am to start our day! We are pumped for our big first full day!
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support on this journey! We know that we are not doing this alone! We are excited to see what God is going to do tomorrow and the experienced we will have!
