Another day, Another Sunburn.

It was another early start to another long day! Couple of the team were up at 5:30am to help with breakfast and the rest of us were up by 6:30am to eat breakfast! 7:00 we were all in the van heading over to the work site. We were greeted by a bunch of smiling children today, it seems they feel more comfortable around the team the second day, they don’t hesitate to jump on you, or give you a big hug, or put baby powder all over you, or throw paint on you (Devin). These kids are so much fun, and they have been a blast to hang out with! Considering how much we accomplished yesterday with building the house, we were able to take turns today to just go and play games and hang out with the kids. 1/3 of the team was constantly working on the house today, and we were able to get all of the walls up, and the roof is almost completely sheeted, and let me tell you, it is looking good! While this part of the team worked on the house, the rest of the team was able to go play games and hang out with the kids for most of the day! With the scraps left over from the walls and the roof Margaret and Devin helped the kids make a crazy wagon/cart thing, which the kids sat in and flew down the hill, they had a blast while we all watched in horror waiting for one of them to get hurt! The kids then took the building project into their own hands and proceeded to make a table and a few chairs... these are some crafty kids, with what little they have, they definitely make the best of it. These kids have been incredible, always so eager and willing to help out in anyway they could. Unfortunatley with the amount of paint that went to waste yesterday, we couldn’t allow them to help us paint today, but they were okay with it, as long as they got to be around us, and talk or cuddle or just hang out.

Naomi, the mother of Karen (the woman were building the house for) was so wonderful today, as she provided the team with many snacks throughout the day. Right when we arrived and again at lunch time she brought us bread fruit with fish. Bread fruit grows on trees here and has a similar taste to a potato, the bread fruit she gave us was the only ripe ones around, which is a huge sacrifice for her to give to us to eat, then later she blessed us again by bringing the team grapefruit! Which is wayyyyy better then any grapefruit your going to find in Canada. It was so sweet to see Naomi bless us with what little she has, she is a wonderful woman, and it has been awesome getting to know her!

To end the day, we are all still healthy and happy and energized (surprisingly!), a few more sunburns today, but all in all we’re doing just fine. We ended our day with a team meeting and then headed to the tuck shop and stocked up on junk food! We are all having a blast getting to know the people of Jamaica, as well as growing in relationship with one another. This team is wonderful, so full of life, so fun, and SO funny.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support, we love you all!
oh.... p.s.... Levi gives a SHOUT to someone.... ;)
